GONZALO BERNÁ PIC

He began his musical studies at the Music School of the Musical Society "La Harmonica" with Antonio Ruda. Later he studied clarinet and orchestral conducting at the Real Conservatorio Superior de Música de Madrid and at the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Murcia, finishing with an end-of-career award and honorary registration. As a clarinetist he was formed with great pedagogues such as José Vicente Peñarrocha, Juan E. Romero, Roy Jowitt, Alois Brandhofer, Carles Riera and Johannes Peitz. In the field of conducting he studied and worked with Maestros Manuel Hernández-Silva, José Miguel knee, César Álvarez, Rodolfo Saglimbeni, Lutz Köhler or Yaron Traub. He has been awarded in several competitions, highlighting the first prize in the "Villa de Cox" interpretation competition, in the International Chamber Music Competition "Ricardo Delgado Vizcaino", International Orchestra conducting competition "Alter Musici", and in 2010 was selected, among young directors from all over Europe, to participate in the Donatella Flick Management competition organized by the London Symphony Orchestra, being one of the semifinalists. He was a member of the Youth Orchestra of the region of Murcia, symphonic Orchestra of Alicante, Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival Orchester and the Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester, acting in some of the main halls and festivals in Europe and Japan (Konzerthaus and Philharmonie of Berlin, Smetana Hall of Prague, Musikverein of Vienna, KKL of Lucerne, Festspielhaus of Salzburg or the Suntory Hall of Tokyo) with soloists of the stature of Gidon Kremer, François Leleux, yo-yo Ma, Jean Guihen Queyras, Akiko Suwanai, Anne-Sofie von Otter or Pierre-Laurent Aimard and the Masters Esa-Pekka Salonen, Alexander Lonquich, Heinrich Schiff, Pierre Boulez, Christoph Eschenbach and Franz Welser-Möst, among others. Invited by the Academy "Gustav Mahler" of Ferrara (Italy), he performed at various concerts with musicians from the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra and Vienna. He has participated in recordings for EMI-Classics, Deutsche Grammophon, ORF (Austria), DRS (Switzerland), NDR-3 (Germany) and RNE-2. As guest director, he has directed the Philharmonic Orchestra of Tomsk (Russia), Orquestra de la Comunitat Valenciana, Symphonic Orchestra of the region of Murcia, Malaga Philharmonic Orchestra, National Dance Company, Young National Orchestra of Spain, orchestra Vigo 430 Symphony, Municipal Symphonic Band of Alicante and the Chamber Orchestra of Cartagena. Throughout his career as a director he has collaborated with soloists of the stature of Mireia Farrés, Alejandro Castañeda, Jesús m ª Gómez, Gregory Porter, Ludmil Angelov, Manuel García, Pablo Barragán, Grati Murcia, Rubén Micieli, Konstantinos Destounis, Vivianne Cheng, Paris Tsenikoglou, Philipp Lynov or Marina Kan Selvik, having performed at the Auditorio Nacional in Madrid, Palau de Les Arts and Palau de la Música de Valencia, Alicante's main theatre, Teatro García Barbon (Vigo), auditorium "Víctor Villegas" of Murcia, ADDA de Alicante, Teatro Afundación (Vigo), Auditorium El Batel de Cartagena, International Festival of Music and Dance of Úbeda, International Jazz Festival of Cartagena, Festival of the three cultures of Murcia, among others, receiving praise from musicians, critics and public. Professor of clarinet, orchestra and Master of Music interpretation and research at the Conservatorio Superior de Música "Óscar Esplá" from Alicante to 2015. At present he develops his teaching activity at the Professional Music Conservatory "guitarist José Tomás" of Alicante. Since 2005 he is the director of the band of the Musical Society "the harmonica" of Cox with which he has obtained important successes, emphasizing:

  • First prize and honorable mention in the competitions of the Diputación of Alicante in the years of 2006, 2008, 2011 and 2015.
  • First prize and honorable mention in the VII International competition "Villa de La Sénia" in 2013.
  • First prize in the contests of the Valencian Community of 2005, 2006, 2008 and 2011.
  • First prize in the III Festa Music contest of Agost in 2015.
